Liposculpture techniques
At vibro-liposculpture.com we use the term liposculpture technique in regard to the device that is used to perform a liposuction procedure.
Manual
With manual liposuction the plastic surgeon had to move the cannula (small, hollow tube through which the fat is removed) back and forth
by hand.
This was very labour-intensive.
Ultrasonic Assisted (UAL)
By using a cannula with an ultrasonic tip it was believed that the walls of the fat-cell would break down and therefore could be removed more easily.
This liposuction technique had no real advantages and carried an increased risk of internal skinburn.
External Ultrasonic Assisted Liposuction (XUAL)
This is a variation on the Ultrasonic Liposuction, but now the patient was treated externally with ultrasonic vibrations
prior to the procedure.
This technique had the same goal of breaking down the fat-cell to be removed more easily, but results weren't convincing.
Power Assisted Liposculpture (PAL)(aka: Vibro Liposculpture)
This is the latest big thing in liposuction surgery and probably the most widely used technique in clinics today.
The technique is known as vibro liposculpture, and uses a motorised cannula which causes the cannula to vibrate.
This requires a lot less effort on the surgeon's part and therefore the plastic surgeon can concentrate on the fat removal itself, which leads to better results.
